Take-out Dining - Iain Brooksbank

While COVID-19 has for the most part had devastating effects on the hospitality industry, takeout and delivery food orders have seen a massive rise. In many cases, takeout food has been the only way that certain restaurants have been able to continue service. More takeout is being ordered and more people are ordering it, causing a shift in the needs for a takeout experience.

There is therefore a need for takeout packaging designed from a new perspective; improving an at-home takeout experience to the point that it compares with a dine-in one. In many modern cases (especially due to COVID 19) takeout orders can represent the entire perception of a restaurant, and operators require the same control over these perceptions that they would have in-house.

Consumers also require further engagement with takeout, as takeout food is now being ordered for special events under COVID 19 restrictions. These events such as birthdays or anniversaries have their owns specific experience requirements.

Additionally, changing government mandate phasing out single use plastics by the end of 2021 across Canada has created a demand among operators for cheap, reliable and environmentally friendly packaging alternatives to substitute current plastic products with minimal impact to their internal systems.
